and a lovely clean red-black signal. Stunning! Howie
Dash’s seedling ADG 15-07-05 gained the votes here to
be named Best Seedling at the Trek.
Of interest to us and something we had never seen
before were circular flat seed pods from a mesquite
tree. They looked just like one inch diameter brown
washers. They covered the ground in one area of the
 garden.
IRIS INSPIRE US GARDEN, LAS CRUCES
Wes and Cynthia Wilson greeted us at their pecan
farm where they grow over 800 varieties of iris. Areas
of emphasis include Arilbreds of course, lots of TBs
including rebloomers along a tree line, novelties or
space age irises, and Medians. Irises have been a part
‘Honey Oasis’ (Laurence Ransom 2011, OGB-)
of the Wilson nomadic lives from Boulder, CO to
Boston, MA, to Las Cruces. Now retired, they have
more time to grow and enjoy their iris hobby than in
 previous years.
The Arilbreds in raised beds were in full peak
bloom. It was a spectacular show including ‘Honey
Oasis’ (Laurence Ransom 2011, OGB-), ‘Genetic Artist’
(Henry Danielson 1972, RB), ‘Silent Sentry’ (Rick Tasco
 2008, OGB), ‘Solomon’s Glory’ (Hooker Nichols 1987,
ABMedian) (OGB-), and many more. We especially
liked ‘Gideon’s Lamp’ (Pete McGrath 2004, OGB)
and ‘Enchanter’s Spell’ (Rick Tasco 2013, OGB). Both
displayed large clumps, the first one as a light lemon
yellow amoena with a red-brown signal, while the latter
has violet standards over reddish-brown falls with a
