 To the American Iris Society,
Each year, one third of the 12 directors of the American
Iris Society complete their three-year term of office.
And each year, a five-member nominating committee
recommends a group of candidates for nomination
as directors, per direction of the AIS bylaws. From this
selection, the current board of directors chooses, by
written ballot, a list of four candidates to be presented
to the general membership for AIS directors.
The annual nominating committee is composed of
two RVPs chosen by the AIS board of counselors, two
incumbent directors selected by the AIS board of directors,
and one section representative chosen by the
 section advisory committee.
During the 2018 spring board meeting held in New
Orleans, Louisiana, and per the AIS bylaws, the following
four individuals were approved as the 2018
nominees for three-year terms on the AIS board of
 directors:
Candidate #1 Neil Houghton, Region 2
Candidate #2 Wayne Messer, Region 21

 MEDIAN IRIS SOCIETY (MIS)
 Hooker Nichols, President
The great news coming from the New Orleans
 JUNE 2018
national convention was that the members of the
Dwarf Iris Society voted to merge with the Median Iris
Society. This is the culmination of an open invitation
extended over the past few years. We now have a
broad membership base that make our publications
some of the finest offered to interested irisarians.
The emergence of new dwarf and Median
hybridizers have been yielding some beautiful new
 cultivars. We welcome their enthusiasm.
Candidate #3 Janis Shackelford, Region 15
Candidate #4 Phyllis Wilburn, Region 14
Additional nominees may be made by any 40 AIS
members, no more than 15 from any one region, as stated
in the AIS bylaws. Any such nominations must be
received by the AIS secretary on or before September
1, 2018. Should such nominations be made, a ballot listing
all nominees will be mailed to all AIS members on
or before October 1, 2018. Returned voted ballots must
be received by the AIS secretary or election committee
(if appointed) on or before October 29, 2018. If
no additional nominations are received, issuance of a
ballot shall be omitted, and the original four nominees
shall be considered elected. The three-year terms of
the elected directors will expire in the fall of 2021.

 SPURIA IRIS SOCIETY
 Andi Rivarola, President
The Spuria Iris Society was well represented at the
New Orleans AIS/SLI Convention. We offered several
recent introductions as a means of fundraising, several
spuria checklists were offered (and sold out), and we
added new members. Also, Anna Cadd gave a new
and innovative program. If you read this report before
June 30, please note that the Spuria Iris Society has a
Membership special during the month of June. If you
become a member, you will receive via mail a spuria
iris rhizome as a token of our gratitude. For more
 information, please see our website:
