 2018 RIS Symposium Results
I bet many of you are
 unaware that the Reblooming
 Iris Society has an annual
 symposium. It is very similar
to the AIS Symposium, but it
 has two big differences. First,
it is only for irises that one has
 seen rebloom. Secondly, it is
not just for tall bearded irises
 but for all classifications of
irises. I will offer a brief review
 of this year’s winners.
 In the Miniature Dwarf
 Bearded category this year
has a tie for first place
 between ‘Pokemon’ (G.
 Sutton 2003) and ‘Trimmed
 Velvet’ (D. Spoon 2006).
 The Standard Dwarf
 Bearded winner is ‘Plum
 Wine’ (J. Weiler 1986). The
Intermediate Bearded winner is ‘Concertina' (G.
Sutton 2000). The Miniature Tall Bearded winner
is Holiday In Mexico’ (R. Probst 2012). The Border
Bearded winner is ‘Fruit Stripe’ (M. Sutton 2009).
The Arilbred winner is ‘Walker Ross’ (Ross/Chapman
1998). The Species Cross winner is ‘Z Z Zanzibar’ (B.
 Kasperek 2005).
Most of the votes occur in the Tall Bearded class.
The top overall vote getter was ‘Daughter Of Stars’
 (D. Spoon 2001). TB second place went to ‘Autumn
Tryst’ (J. Weiler 1993). Third place is ‘Rosalie Figge’
 (J. McKnew 1993). Fourth place saw a tie between
‘Again And Again’ (S. Innerst 1999) and ‘Clarence’ (L.
Zurbrigg 1991). They were followed by ‘Feed Back’ (B.
 Hager 1983).
Oh, and yes, the RIS Symposium includes
beardless iris too, just with a lot fewer votes. In the
Pacific Coast class ‘Premonition Of Spring’ (G. Knipe
2012) is the winner. In the Siberian class first place
went to ‘Burgundy Fireworks’ (T. Aitken 2013). In
the Louisiana class ‘Dural White Butterfly’ (J. Taylor
‘Autumn Tryst’ (John Weiler 1993, TB)
 ‘Clarence’ (Lloyd Zurbrigg 1991, TB)
‘Daughter Of Stars’ (Don Spoon 2001, TB)
‘Rosalie Figge’ (Jane McKnew 1993, TB)
1989/1990) came in first. In the Spuria class ‘Blue
Spiderweb’ (W. Ferguson 1966 is first. In the Japanese
class ‘Second Wave’ (T. Aitken 2005) came in first.
If you would like to vote in next year’s RIS
Symposium, all you have to do is be a member of
the Reblooming Iris Society. If you are not already a
member, join now. For a more complete set of results
please check the Reblooming Iris Recorder Volume 92
Fall/Winter 2018. All RIS members receive two issues
per year of the Reblooming Iris Recorder.
 TALL BEARDED IRIS SOCIETY (TBIS)
 Ron Cosner, President
Not much going on with TBs. We are working on the
program for AIS convention. We will be electing a new
president, vice president, and secretary this year in
addition to board members. We wish everyone a very
happy and prosperous new year and a safe one.
