the overseas box. Rebecca left to drive to a nearby
business meeting she had on Monday. Nancy made
reservations at Highlawn Pavilion for the three of
us for Sunday evening, so we had a chance to get
dressed up a little. This is where the awards banquet
will be for the 2020 Convention, and it is about a
twenty-minute drive from Presby Gardens. We got a
tour of the banquet hall, met the catering manager,
and had an elegant dinner. (And dessert! We were
bad!) (Picture 4.)
It rained Monday and, of course, our Southwest
flight to Phoenix was cancelled along with five other
flights. It took three hours to wait in line to find out
that there were no seats on any flights for about
three days. Waiting in line with a smartphone has
advantages, however. Kathy and I were both able
to book flights home on different airlines for the
next day, but it meant we had to stay overnight
near LaGuardia airport. Finally, we made it to our
respective homes Tuesday evening, July 24.
We left Presby with the plants from overseas with
number tags for each one and number tags for the
five plants that were still to come from Canada.
Kathy and I plan to visit Presby again during
bloom time in 2019 to check on the growth and
bloom.
We will not be flying on Southwest Airlines.
