formed to help find people who would like to submit
an article for publication in this magazine. We would
like to read about anything that interests you; how you
got “hooked,” Grandma’s garden, coping with pests
as a hands in the dirt person, etc. We want people to
 share their stories in a down-to-Earth way—anything
that interests you about tall bearded iris. We welcome
articles from hybridizers as well as others, which makes
it a well-rounded magazine. If it interests you, it will
interest our readers. Articles and questions can be sent
to Judy Nunn, Tall Talk editor, at nunnjk@gmail.com.

 HISTORIC IRIS PRESERVATION
 SOCIETY (HIPS)
 Cathy Egerer, President
The HIPS Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday,
April 10, at 1:00 p.m., during the AIS Convention in
New Orleans. Following a short business meeting, we
invite everyone to enjoy “The Wild and the Tamed,” a
program presented by Patrick O’Connor on historic
Louisiana irises and efforts to save them. Join us at the
Hilton New Orleans Airport Hotel in Kenner, Louisiana.
HIPS has been busy this winter helping several
members who need to downsize their iris collections.
The members reached out to HIPS and offered to
share historic irises that are endangered and need
a new home. In one case, the property had been
sold and the irises are slated for removal this coming
summer. The irises will be placed in the Guardian
Gardens program and grown for sharing, to help make
them less endangered. If you know of someone who
is reducing their iris holdings, HIPS can help rescue
historic irises that might otherwise be discarded. Know
of someone who might need our help? Contact Cathy
 Egerer at pr@historiciris.org.
The HIPS Rhizome Sale is slated for late July, and
donations of historic irises are greatly appreciated.
The rhizome sale committee is requesting that irises
be shipped via regular Priority Mail to arrive during the
week of July 9–13. Details on the sale will be posted
 later this spring.
