Within the Species class are not
only all of the bearded and beard-less
 8
 species but also Irises with
crests instead of beards and all the
 bulbous iris. The terms Evansias
and Junos are no longer valid bo-tanical
 groups but have become
 colloquial terms for the crested
 Irises and the botanical Section
 Scorpiris respectfully.

 7. SPECIES CROSSES (SPX)
 This garden class includes all
hybrids of more than a single spe-cies.
This is a group of experi-mentation.

All of the previous classes would
 have originated within this class
if it had been developed at the
time. It still offers an alternative
to the above classes for hybrids
that do not fit the established pattern of the existing class, and it also
covers the many possibilities that are in the process of developing a
new horticultural group. Some classic example are Calsibes and Pseu-datas,
  two developing groups. Hy-brid
 vigor often makes the SPX
easier to grow than their parents.

With a garden containing each of
these classes you can have Irises
in bloom every month of the year.
