SIGNA MEMBERSHIP
The Species Iris Group of North America, a section of the American Iris Society, began In 1968, under the leadership of Species Robin Chairman Roy Davidson, the members of the eight AIS species robins formed a Species Study Group under the wing of the AIS Scientific Committee.

In 1972 SIGNA became a Section of the AIS. Awards for species and inter species hybrid irises within the AIS awards system became a reality in l994. As a result SIGNA has designed and cast "The Founders of SIGNA Medal" for species and the "Randolph-Perry Medal" for inter species hybrids.

SIGNA, the publication of the Species Iris Group, is published twice each year. Each issue consists of approximately 40 pages of news about the native irises of the world. All back issues (over 3600 pages), with their iris commentary, some of it not available anywhere else, can be had at a nominal charge.

SIGNA also sponsors an Iris and related irids Seed Exchange distribution program which has grown to become the largest exchange of its kind in existence. Seed is donated from around the world by SIGNA members and other interested people and has become international in scope. A seed listing is published in December of each year and sent to all SIGNA members on record as of November 30th. Seed is then distributed on a first ordered, first served basis.

SIGNA has several correspondence robins currently flying for those interested in exchanging ideas, successes and failures in their iris growing with others interested in a common ground. It is an exciting way to meet fellow gardening friends both in the United States and abroad.

Publications are being produced that are of interest to all persons craving more information on this exciting family of plants. Currently we have the second edition of the SIGNA Checklist containing 272 pages of information on Species and species crosses that is avail able from our publications chairman.

We hope you will join SIGNA and take advantage of the benefits it has to offer.

There are several types of SIGNA memberships. Listed below are the membership rates/selections. (Please note that membership information is not available here for local and regional societies. Check with AIS Regional VPs or local club leaders for those membership rates. See the Local Iris Societies listings on this website)

You do not need a PayPal account to use this online subscription service. You may use a Visa, MasterCard, or a PayPal account to make your payment. All membership fees are payable in U.S. funds.

You may use the online payment system to purchase a new subscription or renew an existing one. When renewing, if you know your AIS membership number please include it. (It is listed on the address label of your AIS bulletin.)

If you wish to give the SIGNA membership as a gift please list the recipient's address as the shipping address and note the gift in the "Special Instructions." If you wish to make a donation to the SIGNA in the amount of a subscription, please tell us in the "Special Instructions" box.
